Concerning figures released by NHS England today....
"Record numbers of people are being diagnosed with dementia in England, NHS figures show.
Latest data shows a record 487,432 people in England in June had a diagnosis.
While dementia diagnosis rates are the highest since the start of the pandemic at 65.0%, the NHS has more to do to meet its ambition to diagnose 66.7% of the total number of people that estimates suggest are living with a form of the disease."
Myfolks doesn't only support those diagnosed with dementia, but many of those we visit have it. The NHS and Social Care services are over-streched as we know and Myfolks offers an interim solution.
Myfolks supports those who are struggling because they're isolated and lacking engagement, and struggling with practical tasks. Sadly, dementia means that, in time, the struggle will inevitably increase (although people diagnosed with forms of dementia may live well and independently for some time). The earlier we are involved, the better.
We've shared our A-Z on this from a family's perspective. Our family experience is what led to Myfolks.
If your family is facing this, as so many are, let us know if you'd like a copy, and register on our website for more information and support, and of course, Myfolks visits when the time comes. 💜
